Christ Our Hope in Life and Death
Verse 1
What is our hope in life and death
Christ alone Christ alone
What is our only confidence
That our souls to Him belong
Who holds our days within His hand
What comes apart from His command
And what will keep us to the end
The love of Christ in which we stand
Chorus
O sing hallelujah
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death
Verse 2
What truth can calm the troubled soul
God is good God is good
Where is His grace and goodness known
In our great Redeemer’s blood
Who holds our faith when fears arise
Who stands above the stormy trial
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore the rock of Christ
Verse 3
Unto the grave what will we sing
Christ He lives Christ He lives
And what reward will heaven bring
Everlasting life with Him
There we will rise to meet the Lord
Then sin and death will be destroyed
And we will feast in endless joy
When Christ is ours forevermore

Jesus Thank you
Verse 1
The myst’ry of the cross I cannot comprehend
The agonies of Calvary
You the perfect Holy One crushed Your Son
Who drank the bitter cup reserved for me
Chorus
Your blood has washed away my sin
Jesus thank You
The Father’s wrath completely satisfied
Jesus thank You
Once Your enemy now seated at Your table
Jesus thank You
Verse 2
By Your perfect sacrifice I’ve been brought near
Your enemy You’ve made Your friend
Pouring out the riches of Your glorious grace
Your mercy and Your kindness know no end
Bridge
Lover of my soul I want to live for You

Sunday Service

Pastoral Reading
Psalm 28
To you, O Lord, I call;
my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you be silent to me,
I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
when I cry to you for help,
when I lift up my hands
toward your most holy sanctuary.
3 Do not drag me off with the wicked,
with the workers of evil,
who speak peace with their neighbors
while evil is in their hearts.
4 Give to them according to their work
and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord
or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord!
For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Oh, save your people and bless your heritage!
Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

Offering Hymn
The Lord’s My Shepherd I’ll Not Want (Trinity Hymn #86)

1 The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; he leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

2 My soul he doth restore again;
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for his own name’s sake.

3 Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear none ill,
For thou art with me; and thy rod
And staff me comfort still.

4 My table thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.

5 Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me:
And in God’s house for evermore
My dwelling place shall be.

  1. Great message, Pastor. A sort of “call to arms” for true Christians to WISE UP and RISE UP against the “masses” of false leaders and false Christians of our day. So many ear-tickling preachers completely ignoring the reality of God’s judgment and the reality of hell. They preach only “Grace, Grace, Grace..” even to known unrepentant wicked people pretending to be Christians-as if THEY have the power to let the wicked off the hook! Arrogance. They tell us “we are not to judge”.
    Yet in 1 Cor. 5, Paul tells us we ARE to judge those who falsely call themselves “brothers and sisters in Christ while living in habitual unrepentant sin”.
    We will be hated with murderous hatred for being truthtellers for the Lord. For exposing evil. But Jesus said that would be the case. As long as we commit to following only Him, we will escape the coming judgment God will unleash on all the self-serving false teachers and pretenders. As God said through His prophets in the Old Testament about the coming judgment if people did not repent, so He says today in His Word. Our God does not change. Hell and destruction still await the wicked.
