Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. (Ephesians 4:17-18)
RASNs (revilers, abusers, sociopaths, narcissists) lack the capacity for self-examination. Most of you have experienced this firsthand. All of their evil tactics are designed to move the spotlight of truth off of themselves and onto others, especially upon their targeted victim. The blame is never theirs. The fault lies with you. In this, RASNs show themselves to be irrational, illogical, and unreasonable. These words have no positive effect upon them:
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 1:18-20)
Peter describes them like this:
But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction, (2Peter 2:12)
Unreasoning. Irrational. Drive by fallen instinct, expounding about things of which they are ignorant. Pretty good description of your RASN, right?
And this is why it is impossible to sit down and reason with them. It is a trap for us to fall into thinking that we can.
