Rebecca Davis exposes the misuse of “innocent until proven guilty” ploy that is often laid on victims and witnesses of evil. We see this tactic used over and over again in churches when an evildoer is exposed. Rebecca reminds us of something so obvious that we seem to miss it: that victims of and witnesses to wickedness certainly are not to consider the attacker “innocent until proven guilty.” And yet repeatedly we see churches essentially telling them they must.
