Eze 8:12 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of pictures? For they say, ‘The LORD does not see us, the LORD has forsaken the land.’”
Isa 29:15 Ah, you who hide deep from the LORD your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”
Secrecy. Darkness. Hidden things. These are all characteristic tactics of the evil one. His kingdom is one of darkness, lies, and deceptions. Satan parades as an angel of light, but it is a counterfeit. There is no light in him at all.
Evil people – especially the kind who parade as righteous – believe that they can do anything they want and as long as they hide the wickedness from open view, not even God Himself will know. But the Lord sees all. His gaze pierces the darkest places. His Word penetrates the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. The Lord sees, and the Lord knows.
Sometimes in this life the wicked are exposed and their victims vindicated. But not always. Perhaps not even very often. And that is why we who place our trust in Christ must exercise the faith He has given us and believe His promises. His Word is certain. When He comes to judge the world, He will do so in perfect righteousness. Perfect righteousness. For those who have rejected Christ, their every wicked deed will be open for all to see and will receive just recompense.
In the meantime, while we await the King’s coming, we must rest in the knowledge that justice day is coming. Your oppressor may be boasting now about how he or she has trod down the innocent without consequences, but on that Day his boasting will cease. Books will be opened. His life will be laid bare. His mouth will be closed. He will have no advocate to plead his case. And he will hear that awful, eternal sentence pronounced – cast away into outer darkness forever.
““So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”
