New Sermon Series Beginning Sunday – The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

This powerful, biblical statement of confession of faith is the opening of the Apostles’ Creed. That creed is a summary of the gospel which must be believed. It is impossible to be a Christian (ie, to be born again and truly in Christ) apart from confessing the doctrines in this statement in genuine faith.

This Sunday Sept 10, 2023, I will be starting a series of sermons taking us through the Apostles’ Creed and I encourage everyone to listen. We will be livestreaming the morning service at 11AM on both Facebook (Light for Dark Times) and on Sermon Audio (sermonaudio.com/crc) and then uploading the video of the sermon to both youtube and Sermon Audio where they will be available for future listening.

You may be surprised how many people who claim to be Christians in fact do not believe all of these fundamental elements of the gospel of Christ. And how many local churches do not preach them. For instance, you cannot be a Christian and believe that the universe is eternal and life is the product of billions of years of evolution. That denies the very first statement in the Creed – “…Maker of heaven and earth.” Others deny the virgin birth, the deity of Christ, the reality of the resurrection and even the need for Christ’s substitutionary atonement on the cross. After all, that would mean that we are dead in trespasses and sins and thus in desperate need of a Savior.

So I encourage you to tune in or watch these messages in the coming weeks and thereby grow in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.
