No Time for the Lord

This parable of the Lord shows us the incredible grace of God in our salvation, and also the incredible wickedness of the sinner who refuses to come to Christ.

Pastoral Reading

Isaiah 55:6-13

“Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
7 let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
12 “For you shall go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills before you
shall break forth into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
and it shall make a name for the Lord,
an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

Opening Song

Lift Your Eyes (Oh What a Savior)

Verse 1
Lift your eyes to the Lord your God
Father of goodness and grace
All of your burdens and gifts of praise
Come lay them down in this place

Chorus
For His arm is mighty and His love will endure
His plan is perfect His victory is sure
And His anger is righteous but His grace is free
Oh what a Saviour is He
Oh what a Saviour is He

Verse 2
Lift your souls to the Lord your god
Maker of heaven and earth
Sun and moon bow before His throne
Praise Him for all He is worth

Verse 3
Lift your minds to the Lord your God
He will fulfil all your needs
Seek His wisdom attend His words
Follow wherever He leads

Song

It Was Finished

Verse 1
How I love the voice of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary
He declares his work is finished He has spoken this hope to me
Though the sun had ceased its shining though the war appeared as lost
Christ had triumphed over evil it was finished upon that Cross
Verse 2
Now the curse it has been broken Jesus paid the price for me
Full the pardon He has offered great the welcome that I receive
Boldly I approach my Father clothed in Jesus’ righteousness
There is no more guilt to carry it was finished upon that Cross
Verse 3
Death was once my great opponent fear once had a hold on me
But the Son who died to save us rose that we would be free indeed
Yes He rose that we would be free indeed free from ev’ry plan of darkness
Free to live and free to love death is dead and Christ is risen
It was finished upon that Cross
Ending
Onward to eternal glory
To my Saviour and my God
I rejoice in Jesus’ victory
It was finished upon that Cross
It was finished upon that Cross
It was finished upon that Cross

The myst’ry of the cross I cannot comprehend
The agonies of Calvary
You the perfect Holy One crushed Your Son

Once Your enemy now seated at Your table

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 25

O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
2 For you have made the city a heap,
the fortified city a ruin;
the foreigners’ palace is a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;
for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,
5     like heat in a dry place.
You subdue the noise of the foreigners;
as heat by the shade of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is put down.
6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7 And he will swallow up on this mountain
the covering that is cast over all peoples,
the veil that is spread over all nations.
8     He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
9 It will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
10 For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain,
and Moab shall be trampled down in his place,
as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.
11 And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it
as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim,
but the Lord will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.
12 And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down,
lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.

Closing Song

All the Way My Savior Leads Me (TH #605)

1 All the way my Savior leads me;
what have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt his tender mercy,
who through life has been my guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
here by faith in him to dwell;
for I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
for I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

2 All the way my Savior leads me,
cheers each winding path I tread,
gives me grace for ev’ry trial,
feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
and my soul a-thirst may be,
gushing from the rock before me,
lo, a spring of joy I see;
gushing from the rock before me,
lo, a spring of joy I see!

3 All the way my Savior leads me –
O the fullness of his love!
perfect rest to me is promised
in my Father’s house above:
when my spirit, clothed, immortal,
wings its flight to realms of day,
this my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way;
this my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way!
