Pastoral Reading
Psalm 19
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules[d] of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Opening Song
Psalm 119:89-96 (PS #119L)
For evermore in heav’n, O LORD,
Thy word is settled fast;
And unto generations all
Thy faithfulness shall last.
Thou has securely set the earth
So that it stands; this day
They by Thine ordinances stand,
For all things Thee obey.
Unless in Thy most perfect law
My soul delight had found,
I should have perished at the time
My troubles did abound.
Thy precepts I will ne’er forget;
They quick’ning to me brought.
For I am Thine; O save Thou me;
Thy precepts I have sought.
The wicked seek my death, but I
Thy testimonies laud.
Of all perfection bounds I’ve seen,
For Thy command is broad.

Oh, What a Saviour (Life Your Eyes) (CRC #27)
Verse 1
Lift your eyes to the Lord your God
Father of goodness and grace
All of your burdens and gifts of praise
Come lay them down in this place

For His arm is mighty and His love will endure
His plan is perfect His victory is sure
And His anger is righteous but His grace is free
Oh what a Saviour is He
Oh what a Saviour is He
Verse 2
Lift your souls to the Lord your god
Maker of heaven and earth
Sun and moon bow before His throne
Praise Him for all He is worth
Verse 3
Lift your minds to the Lord your God
He will fulfil all your needs
Seek His wisdom attend His words
Follow wherever He leads

Song
In Christ Alone (CRC #18)
Verse 1
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light my strength my song
This Cornerstone this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
Verse 2
In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
Verse 3
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Verse 4
No guilt in life no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

Scripture Reading
2 Timothy 3
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. 9 But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.
10 You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, 11 my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a] you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

God’s Amazing Word (CRC #53)
When evil thrives in earth’s last days
and people boast of brutal ways,
when even churches in that hour retain the form
but lose God’s pow’r,
Hold fast to everything you’ve learned,
the Word which sinful men have spurned.
The Bible has commanding worth
to do God’s saving work on earth;
it draws our souls from death to life
and rescues us from needless strife:
Amazing gift, on earth so odd,
the life imparting Word of God.
The Bible teaches us God’s will
in circumstances good and ill;
God’s Word uncovers sin’s disguise;
obeying it will make one wise.
It trains the saint to hear Christ’s voice,
to trust in him, repent, rejoice.
God’s Word is good for godly gain,
to teach, rebuke, correct and train;
equipped by him we can pursue the work
God has for us to to do.
God’s Word is all the Christian needs to grow
in grace and do good deeds.
God’s Word was written to be read,
to be our life and daily bread,
to guide our thoughts throughout
the night and lead us forth by morning’s life.
So let us read, mark, learn, digest
God’s Word which gives us heaven’s best.
